Necessities in a Female Bag

Every girl is different therefore carrying different things in her bag, though here is a short post on what should be in every girl's hand bag, back pack, travel luggage and so on.

1. Make Up: For those who wear make up like myself, it is important to bring these items with you wherever you go especially if you definitely know you'll be heading out the entire day including work and school purely and utterly for touch ups and the unlikely event that you end up crying turning a beautiful face into a smudged up wrecked one. I find that sometimes on hot days liquid eyeliners tend to fade, and sweat ruins your foundation/press powder and therefore it'll be more than handy to bring it with you. And everyone of course knows lipstick needs to be re-applied after eating/drinking, unless it's those 14 hour stay ones.

2. Sunglasses: Obviously in winter these aren't really going to be your top priority but living in a country with such high UV rays like Australia, it is more than highly important to protect your eyes.

3. 2013 Diary Planner/Journal: Every busy woman needs to stay organised, and bringing a planner with you wherever you go will make dates, events, things to do and rough ideas simply easier. For myself I find using a planner helpful as it contains an address book, a shopping list, a note book and other things and it's just easier to scribble things down on the bus, train, in class or at home!

4. Wallet: Yes everybody already carries a wallet around, but having a wallet or purse that is the right size to store your cash, cards, coins and receipts as well as fitting into any sized bag is what you should aim for. A cluttered wallet is something women (and men) should not have to go through as a problem.

5. Facial Blotting Tissues: If your face produces as much oil as mine, this is a DEFINITE in your bag. These tissues are your best friend by removing the unwanted oil on your face, leaving your skin matte and smooth. I recommend this to every body including men and trust me, you and your skin will look great and feel great.

Picnicalities

What I'm wearing:
Flannelette: Lowes (originally long sleeved)
Crop top: Topshop
Shorts: SES
Socks: Topshop
Shoes: Vans
Watch: Casio

Hi again!
A quick outfit post on what I wore to a picnic yesterday matching old clothing such as my Lowes flannelette with my Topshop crop top. It's amazing what such old clothing and just in your wardrobe clothing can create together! I suggest turning clothes that you don't or hardly use into something new simply by just cutting a certain feature off to adding new texture or features such as lace or pockets! Also, don't ever be afraid to mix edge with girly!

Ps. I don't know what's up with the post title I just think its a cool word.

Boxing Day Hauls

I love a good sale, and by "sale" I mean clothing that has reached $10 and under! So majority of the items I have bought are under $10 but there are about three items that breached how much I usually spend on an item. For me, I have found that shopping constantly during a massive sale like this allows you to find more things in a store than you saw the previous day you went. This is because retail stores replenish their stock almost everyday and therefore by returning back to a specific store, you will find new and cheap products. Also, shopping towards the end of a sale will save you $$$. As the sale ends, the discount goes higher in order for a store to get rid of all the stock needed for their following collection.

This pink lace singlet was from the Temt clearance store bought for $4.95. Good for the summer and able to be worn with pants, leggings, skirts and shorts.

Aqua green singlet with collar and chain spotted at Chicabooti for $7.95. I really needed something simple like this in my wardrobe and the chain just adds extra feature to a plain simple shirt.

Floral summer dress from Temt clearance store for only $4.95. I am a sucker for summer dresses and I couldn't let this one pass. Especially with that price!

Mint green top with hole punched designs from Temt clearance store for $4.95

Lace crop top also from Temt clearance store for $4.95. I've always wanted a top like this because it's simple yet elegant and can be teamed up with a solid coloured short or long skirt, shorts and even be worn over a body hugging dress. Finally found one that's not over priced.

Dark green asymmetrical dress bought from Temt clearance store for $9.95. A simple item to have but can be easily dressed with a belt and massive necklaces.

Probably my favourite haul and most expensive from Topshop was over $100 but bought for $38. This mesh fabric crop top with sequins isn't over the top and is great to wear for many occasions.

Crop top from Topshop costed $19 and is good for the Australian summer heat. (Despite it being black.) I bought this not only because I wanted one but because it seems to be cheaper than anywhere else I've seen that sells them. Also when I was on holiday at Singapore, this specific item costed more, which was weird.

Brown leather strapped sandals aka Jesus sandals from Kmart for $7. Kmart shoes for me last a very long time and is pretty reasonable for the prices. These summer sandals is very versatile and can match quite a lot of things.

Chiffon floral shirt from Blue Jade for $10. I bought this shirt because it's very cute and appealing to the eye, and can look very formal if it is worn with specific items. Also good for casual wear, and high waisted apparel.

Hope you abused the Boxing Day sales! Can't wait for my online purchases to arrive too.
Photo quality isn't great either, so please just excuse that.

Project DIY #1

In my previous post I was wearing a button up singlet and mentioned "Project DIY". Well, this year I've set myself up a challenge and a resolution to SAVE MORE AND SPEND LESS which is going to be highly difficult. As I was cleaning out my wardrobe I found some clothing that can do a little bit of tidying, stitching and cutting here and there and not only am I recycling my old clothes, it will be inexpensive and I'll save who knows how much money! So throughout this entire year I am going to attempt re-creating second hand clothing a bit like "rags to riches" type concept. I've started by doing simple things like turning shirts into singlets and hoping that eventually I'll be doing crazy things on an item and might even start selling.

* Old school Just Jeans denim vest
I ordered a packet of 50 golden studs from eBay which was around $3, and attached it onto the pockets of the vest to add detail. This was the first item I DIY'd and I tried to keep it safe if I ever did make a mistake as I really do love this vest.

* One of a kind Button up shirt from Katies
Op-shopped from Summer Hill and turned it into a singlet simply buy cutting the shoulder pads and sleeves off to look like a tank top. Easy to do and all you need is a pair of sharp and good fabric scissors! I'm thinking of doing a seam finish to prevent it from fraying because its not made from a fabric that is used to make cotton tank tops.

Here are my first two DIY creations! I've already started on more so stay posted! If there are any unwanted clothing you'd like to donate to A Thrift Kind of Love please contact me or comment below!

Enjoy!

Curtain Shirts & Customised Bikes

What I'm wearing:
Singlet: Originally a shirt from Katies op-shopped at Summer Hill
High Waisted Skirt: Cotton On
Shoes: Vans
Watch: Casio
Studded bracelet: H&M
Mid rings: Bags&Swags (contact Valerie Adefuin)

Hi Bloggers!

So, today I went on a spontaneous adventure to Deus Cafe which happened to be connected to the showroom itself containing apparel, vintage leather jackets, backpacks, helmets and customised bikes! I've been to quite a few cafes but I personally enjoyed and recommend this one as the food was gourmet whilst their bottled drinks contained pop art stickers, though take note that their prices was a little higher than what you would expect to pay at a cafe.

As for the curtain button up singlet, it was actually a shirt that I thrifted at Summer Hill. I used to wear it as a normal shirt and it was just those things that were so ugly it looked cool. Eventually, it started looking horrible in my perspective and so I decided to add it to my "Project DIY" (which I'll post up about really soon) and turn it into a hipster looking singlet. Successful!

Stay posted for more!

January Wants

Hi Thrifters!
You know what they say, "New month = new wants"! Jokes, I just came up with it now but when you think hard about it, it's true right?

ONE: High waisted denim shorts from Ebay
I believe that high waisted shorts is a necessity in every female's wardrobe because it is so versatile being able to be worn in not only summer, but the colder months too. This is achieved by wearing stockings and boosting your look by adding sturdy high heeled boots or even cute flats. And yes, believe it or not Ebay sells reasonable apparel and is currently having a 70% off sale!

TWO: Floral Co-Ords from Topshop
Co-ordinate clothing has inspired me because it brings so much authority when a woman wears it, and just looks so chic and upper-class. As for floral, well we all know that floral has made a bold statement in the industry now and probably forever.

THREE: Chanel N5 Parfum from Chanel
I'm not exactly a crazy perfume lady but Chanel is my most favourite brand and they also happen to have such great smelling perfumes that aren't too harsh when sprayed.

FOUR: Creepers from Asos
I never thought the day I'd fall in love with creepers or flatforms would come. I was in Topshop about a week ago when I came across these fierce looking creepers with studs and the lot and since then I've been crazy about them. Asos has the cheapest that I've found.

FIVE: Lipstick from MAC
Ok so I am a lipstick fan, I have so many and it's become such a bad addiction. I bought 11 lipsticks throughout the last year so imagine how many I'll get this coming one.... "Captive" from MAC though is a shade I don't have and when applied it is matte whilst being not to harsh to my skin tone nor too dull. It's pretty much perfect!

Get shopping before the massive sales end!
