Thrift Search

20121217

So, I originally planned to start doing 'monthly wants' for A Thrift Kind of Love when 2013 has started but I couldn't hold in my excitement any longer and decided to post one for December! Christmas day is approaching rapidly, so why not extend your wishlist of things to invest on! No harm in that, is there?

ONE: Gold chain necklace from Diva
I have seen so many women rocking this chain, and yes it does make me want one for myself but that's only because I believe owning an accessory like this can turn a simple outfit into something fierce. Not only that, but will match most of the apparel in my closet!

TWO: MacBook Pro from Apple
This item is my number one want! I don't know why I didn't put my wishlist in order but anyway, I'll be starting college next March and it is actually compulsory that I own a MacBook prior to starting my course. So not only will my parents HAVE to purchase this, it'll finally give me a chance to get rid of this laptop I've been using for about 6 years now. It won't die, this machine does not die.

THREE: Infinity ring from Tiffany & Co
Something. I've. Been. Looking. For. For. Ages. And everyone knows I get spoiled with Tiffany by my man.

FOUR: High waisted bikini from Glassons
High waisted bikinis have been in the industry for a looooooong time now and ever since seeing it in the beginning of 2012, I have wanted a pair ever since. Of course, many high end labels have manufactured these wonderful things but as you already know, the budget shopper side of myself will not purchase something that expensive. Finally, I have spotted one at Glassons and for a reasonable price too! Take note they offer a range of patterns and colours.

FIVE: Gift Cards
One of the most safest ways to give someone for Christmas. I know there isn't a Forever21 here in Sydney but I am going to New York during the beginning of 2013! So it doesn't go to waste, and will make me one very happy girl.

SIX: 2013 Diary from Kikki.K
A yearly planner is something I cannot go without, and everyday of the year must have something written on it-whether it is a 'to-do' or an event. Yearly planners are more useful than how other people think it to be, keeping your everyday life organised. Definitely needed for a busy year ahead!

My list is short, but when you think about it most are expensive. Surprisingly I am not so fussed this Christmas on what I receive and getting at least one of these wants on my list will make me even more content for the New Year ahead! What's on yours?

That "Ao Dai"

Xin chao toi rat thich! (Hello my loves in English!)

I thought I'd just show you my very own traditional Vietnamese dress, uniquely hand made that is delicately painted on of cherry blossoms that I wore to my brother's wedding a month ago. It's quite interesting to put on actually, as it is sewn with multiple buttons and hooks along the right side of the chiffon dress. So that was difficult to put this on by myself and since I did this photo shoot with two of my close men, well....one of them had to button me up. So thanks to Gian, I appreciate it muchly.

Enjoy!

OOTD: Plain Old Crotchet

What I'm wearing:
Jumper: Zara
High waisted skirt: Cotton On
Leather boots: Singaporean Boutique

Hola! A short, quick post on an outfit I chucked together whilst taking my tourist Uncle to the Three Sisters, Blue Mountains. For non Sydney siders, the weather there is fairly cold obviously due to the ridiculous amounts of hills, mountains and trees. I really adore this outfit because it's so simple, using such a solid colour as black with the crotchet roses on the Zara jumper adding simplicity and texture. This therefore turns this black filled outfit from being plain to something that catches the human eye. The crotchet becomes the centre of attention. And I definitely love that fact about what I'm wearing.

Stay posted for more OOTD posts to come!

Photo Journal - I

Singapore and Vietnam Trip
Aw, parents.

My brother's wedding part one - how cute does he look?

As a Vietnamese tradition, when marriage occurs women are to wear these beautiful dresses called "ao dai". Would wear this dress anytime, again.

My brother and my sister-in-law

Matching ao dai's! Mine was actually big on me, the chiffon part got altered tighter but my silk pants oppose otherwise.

For those who have not yet traveled to Vietnam, motorbikes and scooters are their main access of transport. Seriously, it's like ants. No blood no foul there!

Dad.

My brother and my boyfriend riding on my sister's scooter, it looks hilarious in so many levels.

Celebrated Dad's birthday!

The toolies I spent my schoolies with. Wouldn't change it for the world.

Yep, ok

At Cu Chi tunnels, where the Vietnamese soldiers hid during the war.

Love triangle.........................

All that COD work really paid out at this moment.

Such a beautiful sunny day that turned into the most horrible wet weather you could possibly imagine.

Australian beaches are the best. What? Think again.

My sister's chiuaua, cutie.

Seven layered cake....that nobody ate.

My new sister!

One regular sized Frozen Yogurt is two regular sizes in Vietnam.

The most authentic pork roll, beats everything!

We spent our three and a half years

First plane ride together. (Cheesy, I know)

SINGAPORE!!!!!!!!!

Can someone say the best store ever!? This Forever21 was four levels...
